Shay Mitchell is a Canadian actressmodeland entrepreneur. Her most well-known work is her role as Emily Fields in the Freeform show Pretty Little Liars. After her success in modeling, dancing and acting, she began to study acting. Mitchell landed guest roles and commercials prior to getting the breakthrough. The critics and the fans alike were impressed with her performance. The career in film started with the films Dreamland, Mother's Day and The Possession Of Hannah Grace. Her role in the psychological thriller series "You" led to more recognition. Apart from performing, she also dabbled in writing. With Michaela Blaney she wrote an adult book titled Bliss. Shay Mitchell was born on April 10, 1987, and was brought up on the streets of Ontario, Canada to parents Mark Mitchell and Precious Garcia. Her father is Scottish-Irish and is of Irish heritage. Mitchell is also a cousin of Lea Salonga, a famed music theater performer and actress. Mitchell was a student at Rockridge Secondary for her early days before moving to West Vancouver Secondary. In her teens, Mitchell was already working as models for various companies across many countries. After traveling across the globe to Barcelona, Bangkok and Hong Kong she returned to Toronto, where she studied acting.
